I actually felt downright bad for Kendra in the end when she calls out for Isaac as the tentacle smashes her and drags her down into the abyss. And her voice actress in the remake is phenomenal. She does a much more subtle job of casting suspicion on Hammond to throw Isaac off her trail. She actually appears the most resilient of the survivors when it comes to the marker's influence. Remake Kendra is all about subterfuge, red herrings, and the mission at the cost of everything else. One of the reasons I dislike the characters in DS3 so much is because they are just rude and belligerent for no reason which is how original Kendra was. She is a woman on a mission and that mission takes priority over everything else. Kendra's motivations are more fleshed out and explained.
However, both Kyne and Kendra are leaps and bounds better than they were in the original. His story arc is actually fairly interesting IMO and I like his death scene over the one in the original.
And only because his voice actor was really, really bad at delivering his lines. Hammond was a downgrade: I will give you that.
